Group coaching and home tuition both work — but not for every student equally. Here is an honest look at when one-to-one home tuition makes more sense than a group batch, and when it doesn't.
If your child hesitates to ask questions in front of classmates, needs a flexible schedule due to school timing or extracurricular commitments, is significantly behind or ahead of a standard batch pace, or simply learns faster with undivided attention, one-to-one home tuition usually produces faster improvement.
Students who are motivated by healthy competition, benefit from hearing classmates' questions, or need the discipline of a fixed batch schedule often do very well in a small-batch classroom environment — especially when the batch size is genuinely small (we cap ours at 12 students).
The biggest difference isn't actually home versus centre — it's how much individual attention a student receives either way. A small, well-run batch of 12 can offer nearly the same personal attention as one-to-one tuition, while an overcrowded "small batch" of 40+ students offers very little, regardless of where it's held.
We run small, capped batches at our Coimbatore centre for students who thrive with peers, dedicated one-to-one home tuition in Coimbatore for students who need individual pacing, and online classes for families who need flexible timing or live outside our immediate service area. Many families actually combine centre classes with occasional home tuition sessions before major exams.
